I was able to meet with my friend for “coffee” today 🙂 She had returned from her missions trip to India, and it was a wonderful time of catching up and sharing what we learned. Sometimes it feels like I’m way too lucky to have these people in my life who care about me and who I am able to continue investing in and being invested in by. Friendships based on a mutual desire to grow continually in faith are the bestest kind.

I also got to teach again today! It was actually really fun today. The cuteness and eagerness of the students totally made the entire evening. I love being able to laugh with the students and I feel like I feed off of their mood, so it’s nice when they show up in a good one. Also “Call Me Maybe” was on the radio afterwards when I drove home. *Fist pump*

Today was a super special day (for me) because I got to go back and reunite with my university friends at CCF! Woop! It was cool to go back and see people I haven’t seen in a while, to catch up, and to just be in community together. Ironically, the topical tonight WAS on community, so that was a nice way to jump into the school year.

Also, we went out for dinner and I got my Asian food fix for the week. Oh how I missed it at camp.

Speaking of school, IT STARTS SO SOON! AHHHHHHHHH. This summer has been full of many things so far, but I’m getting ahead of myself…the wrap up post will be the last one. Needless to say, I’m not completely ready for classes to start yet, but I hope that by the time I get to that point I will be. I may not have completed my summer goal list, but I think it was a good summer nonetheless.

So today was a great day because I passed my G driving test today! I’m mostly just happy that I never have to do a driving test again. Unless I move to Europe or something. Darn it …..

Moving on, I was able to meet up with my best friend here today and catch up. It was delightful. We walked and talked and discussed things that happened in our lives and what we God has been teaching us. I’m glad to have her back in my life again. Also, I am thankful for Starbucks, parks, walking, and life. Today is a thankful kind of day.

Sunday, August 18

Today was the first day back at church! It was really cool because we had 11 baptisms. count them – 11. It was beautiful to see all the things God has been doing while I’ve been gone. It was also beautiful to see the kids and adults alike professing love for Christ and being thankful for his presence in their lives. Most assuredly inspiring and a great reminder of what it looks like when faith is blossoming.

Afterwards, i was able to spend some time with some high school friends. It was a great afternoon of reconnecting and catching up, and really just being us. I missed the friendship we had, and it was nice to rekindle it a little bit. Also swimming.

To finish up, i was able to skype with a friend from camp. I loved being able to see her face again, but also be able to continue our haphazard friendship-discipleship-mentor thing we’ve got going on. Yay friends 🙂

The kids left! I can’t believe I made it through this week, but at the same time, I look back on it and can believe that God had his hand on everything that happened the whole way.

After kids left, I went with my friend to Big Rapids to go on an adventure. This adventure included finding the best store ever downtown. It had candy, ice cream, free fudge samples, a four seasons room, and a wall of candles. Basically you could live there. There was also  J.C. Penny run, but minor details. We also went to Applebee’s for dinner, which was nice because real food. And, of course, any road trip would not be complete if there was not a trip to Mejer. I may or may not have bought a Curious George Treasury book.

To cap off the day, we returned to camp to spend some time at a campfire and hanging out with some people before kids come. The peanut butter s’mores made a reoccurrence, and the conversation was great. I am so thankful for adult conversation after this summer at camp.
