Who was the lunatic who thought they could just learn a language in the summer? That would be me.
Today I tried to tackle lesson two in my Greek textbook … and I’m un-pleased to say that it was not a walk in the park. I waited way too long from when I started learning the alphabet, and all this accent stuff just killed me. I still want to learn it, but clearly it’s going to be a little lot a bit harder than it was to learn French. I think. If i can get past p sounding like r (among other things), maybe i’ll get somewhere.
However, I have learned some interesting things about the construction of syllables in Greek. English has nothing like that, so kind of cool that the language has those rules. Also a reminder that it’s a language…not just some fancy words … and that this will be hard.
Challenge accepted.
